The Looney Tunes have brought smiles to faces across the political spectrum for decades. On the other hand, increasing polarization between the left and right has left few with anything to smile about. Not to mention Congress seems to only be capable of passing new approval rating lows, as voter confidence has essentially gone down the drain. Some say Americans aren’t getting good candidates, because the good ones don’t want to play politics or sell their soul for a massive campaign donation. Would things be much different if we could elect Looney Tunes? Let’s find out!

Tweety Bird

PETA’s largest ally in Congress, Tweety Bird’s legislative agenda focuses on banning any and all poultry products.

Sylvester

The NRA’s favorite Blue-dog Democrat, Sylvester has alienated himself from his Democratic colleagues due to his literal interpretation of the Second Amendment with Congressman Tweety frequently lambasting him in the papers as a “Bad ol’ puddy tat!”

Pepe Le Pew

Once a strong presidential candidate, Le Pew’s campaign was crushed after concerns over his birthplace arouse. Disappointed, Pepe has given up on politics, choosing instead to spend his remaining days drinking fine wine and chasing tail.

Tasmanian Devil

Taz has been a political liability to any and all who have associated with him, due to his polarizing personality and complete disregard of personal behavior. Rumors say he will seek public office following the completion of his fourth tour of rehab at the ACME Ford Clinic.

Road Runner

Road Runner is an internationally respected journalist for simply printing the facts without editorializing, and is always the first on the scene of any breaking story. Unfortunately for him, print journalism is dying and he simply doesn’t have a voice for television.

Wile E. Coyote (Trickius Politicianis)

Republican Minority Leader who spends a majority of his free time frying in the sun, chasing after lost causes (i.e. repealing everything his rival president has accomplished, from universal ACME-care to Road Runners receiving federal protection).

Foghorn Leghorn

A big tobacco lobbyist for years, Foghorn has peddled his emphysema product to anyone looking for a bit of nicotine relaxation. Mr. Leghorn was thrusted into the national spotlight after his claim that “There is, I say, there is no definitive evidence that cigarettes are dangerous,” became public. To this day, he still doesn’t understand what in tarnation the big deal was all about.

Yosemite Sam

Congressman Sam emanates Dixie pride and calls former Congressman, Strom Thurmond, a major influence on his life. His current legislative pet project seeks the extermination of all varmints. Given the make up of Congress, many believe it is unlikely to get past committee.

Elmer Fudd

This moderate Republican is loved by all, even the ironically named loony left. Elmer has been able to escape controversy for the most part, but an unfortunate encounter with Bugs Bunny and threats that he was going to “BWAST” him led to a congressional investigation. Since then, Elmer has been seen as a reasonable voice to all, even the wascally wabbits who disagwee.

Daffy Duck

Independent from… well… we don’t know. What we DO know is that Daffy hopped around, district to district, until he found one that would elect him (a little voter tampering never hurt anyone, Daffy always said…). Although admittedly corrupt, Congressman Duck has stayed in office due to a massive campaign war-chest after years of compromising himself for anyone willing to donate to his campaign. Anything and everything he does is for political gain, and far more importantly, power.

Bugs Bunny

Bugs has been a life-long social activist whose run for the White House was crippled after photos of him cross-dressing were released, allegedly by Daffy Duck. Bugs’ main issue since has been repealing legislation banning same-toon marriage, which has seen recent success, with popular opinion swaying in his favor throughout the country

Porky Pig

President Porky Pig took the White House by surprise with impressive, youth-based grassroots campaigning. Critics, however, cite his inability to stay on message as a crutch. Some far-right groups question his faith due to his speeches ending with catch phrase “That’s All Folks!” instead of “God Bless America.” President Porky Pig’s approval ratings are at a current all time low as midterms approach and the nation’s political divide widens. President Pig recently reiterated his support of building a Martian Community Center a few blocks away from the remains of the Warner Brothers Tower fundamentalist Martians attacked almost a decade ago, taking attention away from far more pressing matters, such as the ACME oil spill clean up and ongoing outer-space conflicts with various Martian extremist groups.

Yikes! Unfortunately, it seems things are about the same… Well, in the words of our esteemed leader, that’s all folks!
